Looking Glass debuts ‘Hololuminescent’ displays

Looking Glass has unveiled its ‘Hololuminescent’ Display (HLD), designed to create video, media and interactive experiences using standard tools, displayed as 3D ‘holograms’.

The technology aims to deploy content on existing video infrastructure, displayed in 3D without using 3D software pipelines.

The display is less than one-in thick, featuring up to 4K resolution and a standard display form factor, using Looking Glass’ hybrid technology that builds ‘holographic’ volume into an LCD or OLED’s optical stack.

The displays do not require eye tracking and can cater to groups of any size, allowing users to create content using standard video workflows (Adobe Premiere, After Effects etc.) for video or software engines (Unity, Unreal) to create interactive applications.

‘Hololuminescent’ displays can be mounted on walls without specialist software or external hardware, allowing the displays to be installed in stores, venues, theme parks etc.

Available in Q4 2025, the new models will be available as 16-in, 27-in or 86-in displays.
