Genelec expands Smart Active Monitoring Systems line

Genelec has revealed five additions to its range of Smart Active Monitoring systems at Prolight + Sound 2016.

The series now features 8340 and 8350 smart active monitors, 7360 and 7370 SAM subwoofers for analogue and digital audio applications, as well as a 9301 model AES/EBU multichannel interface for creating 7.1 digital audio systems. Each product supports Genelec’s 2.0 Loudspeaker Manager software, incorporating AutoCal technology.

The Genelec systems include floating point DSP engines, linearised phase response and improved auto-calibration and spectral tuning capability. All have universal mains input voltage.

Its Class D amplifiers and drivers allow the 8340 and 8350 to achieve higher sound pressure level than their predecessors with high dynamic range, improved frequency response flatness and low distortion. They additionally feature Genelec’s Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) design for cut-off frequency and Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) for sound reproduction for on- and off-axis listening positions.

The company’s latest subwoofers are built upon the proven Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE) technology for low frequency reproduction. They offer increased amplifier power and headroom to achieve high sound pressure levels, with a multichannel bass-management system providing both 7.1 analogue and stereo digital inputs.

The 9301 AES/EBU multichannel interface unit complements also offer 7.1 digital audio inputs, and a bass-managed subwoofer output link.
