Barix firmware bolsters SIP gateway

Barix highlighted new firmware for its SIP gateway when it focused on IP audio and control at InfoComm 2017.

The update enables SIP-based phone system administrators to register SIP client devices to both their main and redundant PBX systems for backup. The new capability supports redundant streams with seamless switching and allows integrators to combine intercom, paging, and music-on-hold applications with SIP-enabled PBX telephone systems.

Barix also demonstrated extensions to its Simple Paging system for fixed and mobile paging over IP networks in schools, offices, public venues and other facilities. Simple Paging reproduces live announcements from a desktop, tablet or mobile device. An Android version of the Simple Paging App has been added to existing iOS support.

The company also showed its Barionet 1000 I/O device designed for IP-based control and automation applications and is targeted at OEM and systems integrators. It is programmable in Linux using the Open WRT framework and the new model features wireless support and a USB port.

The Barionet 1000 is suited to access control, environmental monitoring, failover switching, motion detection, automated climate control and much more.

Barix also demonstrated updates to its Audio Signage platform including multichannel audio support. Audio Signage delivers multiple audio tracks to visitors’ mobile devices over a local Wi-Fi connection and runs on a compact Barix Exstreamer Store & Play device.
