7thSense introduces S-Series 8K compact media server

7thSense, a provider of media serving, pixel processing and show control, has announced the S-Series, an 8K media server designed for installations where space, power consumption, weight and noise must remain minimal while maintaining performance.

Barely larger than a paperback book, the S-Series delivers uncompressed 8K, multi-channel 4K and WUXGA playback from a device small enough to mount behind displays, inside kiosks or within exhibits. It is designed for both frame-based media sequences and generative real-time engines, supporting interactive, immersive and mixed media installations across themed entertainment, museums, live events and architectural displays.

The S-Series supports;

- Up to three channels of 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 at 60 frames per second
- Up to four channels of 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 at 30 frames per second
- Up to four channels of 4K 8-bit 4:2:2 at 60 frames per second
- Up to four channels of WUXGA 10-bit 4:4:4 at 60 frames per second
- Creators can combine movie playback, live capture, generative content and effects, with built-in warp and blend, multi-server synchronised playback, NDI preview and external control.

The S-Series consumes less than 83 watts of power, this level of efficiency places its power draw in the same range as an LCD display.
