Entries for the 2016 InAVation Awards will shut on November 6, 2015. Anna Mitchell explains how the International Project Award has taken this key industry event truly global.
On February 10, 2015 Singapore’s Electronics & Engineering (E&E) took to a stage in Amsterdam to raise an InAVation Award for its part in the hugely successful Singapore Sports Hub Project. An audience of 600 AV professionals from high profile manufacturers, successful integrators and influential technology managers and consultants applauded E&E for work that impressed judges enough to pick them out from a shortlist of prestigious projects from around the world.
The InAVation Awards was started in 2006 by InAVate magazine and the project stream, that rewards integrators for installation work, was only open to companies that had carried out work within the EMEA region. But, the emergence of the International Award in 2014 opened this industry event up to a global audience.
InAVation Awards organisers started holding the ceremony during the ISE show in 2006 as a way to truly serve the entire EMEA integration community. We understand that our readers are busy. We also know that not every integrator is a huge organisation. Taking key people from those companies for an evening away that involves travel is something that we couldn’t or wouldn’t expect to be possible for everyone.
ISE represented an event that most integrators would attend and allowed the awards to be a night of relaxation, celebration and networking alongside a schedule of exploring new technologies and meeting with partners on the exhibition floor. An evening event held independently from a wider focus could not avoid being heavily weighted to local visitors and only ever expect to attract a limited number of professionals from the wider industry.
As ISE has expanded and started to position itself as a global show, the profile of those attending the awards has started to change too. With the InfoComm show in America still a key event, much of that growth is from Asia. In 2015, this fact was represented with all but one of the six finalists in the International category coming from the APAC region.
So, if you have completed a project between October 1, 2014 and October 1, 2015 that you are proud of, now is your last chance to be recognised by the global AV industry for your achievements.
