IBC2026 will launch Future Tech Ignite, a new initiative designed to connect startups, entrepreneurs and emerging technologies with the wider media and entertainment industry.
Taking place at the RAI Amsterdam from 11 to 14 September, IBC2026 will bring together media, entertainment and technology professionals from more than 170 countries.
Future Tech Ignite will include a dedicated Start-up Zone and Ignite Stage, creating a platform for more than 50 startups and emerging technology companies to meet investors, partners, customers and industry stakeholders.
The initiative forms part of the expanded Future Tech area and builds on IBC’s strategic partnership with EIT Culture & Creativity, part of the EU-backed European Institute of Innovation and Technology. EIT Culture & Creativity will act as Innovation Partner for Future Tech Ignite.
The Ignite Stage will host a four-day programme covering future-focused content, talent and skills development sessions and a creative showcase. The IBC Talent Programme, now in its third year, will also be part of the programme, bringing together professionals, educators, employers, industry bodies and emerging talent to address workforce challenges.
Michael Crimp, CEO of IBC, said: “From Future Tech Ignite and the Accelerator Programme to IBC Exchange and the Conference, IBC2026 is designed to help industry players turn ideas into action and unlock opportunities.”
Future Tech will continue to be supported by companies including AWS, Microsoft, Google, HP, AMD and Shure. The IBC Accelerator Media Innovation Programme will also remain central to the area, with EIT Culture & Creativity as Innovation Partner and Google returning as headline sponsor.
IBC will also introduce the Braindate Lounge as part of the IBC Exchange experience, enabling premium pass holders to take part in curated one-to-one and small-group discussions.
IBC2026 is expected to exceed 45,000 sq m of exhibition space, with more than 1,200 exhibitors across 14 halls. Future Tech in Hall 14 and Content Everywhere in Hall 5 are both reported to be ahead of last year in space bookings.
The three-day IBC Conference will focus on themes including shifting business models, transformative technology and people and purpose. Sessions will address AI, sports transformation, content provenance, audience behaviour, security and authenticity.
Confirmed speakers include Claire Enders, CEO and founder of Enders Analysis; Eline van der Velden, founder and CEO of Particle6; Guy-Laurent Epstein, executive director of marketing at UEFA; Yiannis Exarchos, CEO of OBS; and Marion Rathmann, group VP content and programming networks at Warner Bros.
