Verizon will reportedly shut down videoconferencing platform BlueJeans after acquiring the platform for $400 million during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic.
9to5Google reported that an Email received by BlueJeans customers announced that that Verizon has “made the difficult decision to sunset our suite of BlueJeans products”. BlueJeans’ recent offering of a free-to-use plan and free trials will be discontinued on the 31st August.
Verizon entered into a definitive agreement to acquire BlueJeaan’s cloud-based video service in 2020, considered to be a rival to videoconferencing platform Zoom. According to CNBC, Verizon paid up to $400 million for the platform.
