A home-grown AV industry, fuelled by tourism and increasing investment, is maturing in Tunisia. Anna Mitchell learns how the country is working to rebuild and grow after the revolution that has transformed the country and arguably the regions around it.
It was more than a year ago when the first rumblings of revolution were heard on the streets of Tunisia. And it was on January 14, 2011 that President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali stepped down after ruling the country for nearly a quarter of a century.
The country’s small but growing AV industry was hit hard by the initial affects of revolution. The sector was largely supported by a healthy tourist industry, which dwindled during the unrest. But despite the initial set back hopes remain high for the future.
Ridha Ourzli, chairman of MediaCom SA, the largest AV integrator in Tunisia, explains the challenges and opportunities in the AV market as the county moves on from a dramatic revolution.
