Spotlight Sound was appointed by Academy AV to install a specialist AV system, including an LED stage, an Apple Mac suite, additional IT suites and recording studio for its 6th form media studies students.
A large-scale construction project was managed by Marlene Martins from Academy Estate Consultants (AEC).
Brooks 6th Form’s building consultants, Academy Estate Consultants, were successful in securing T-Level funding for multiple developments in the school, including a large-scale AV installation to serve the new Media T Level. Their media space now features a floor and wall-based 4 x 4m LED screen stage (Supplied and installed by Dynamo LED Displays) supported by a sound and lighting rig. The sound and lighting system is all of a professional standard and uses technology brands that are found in professional media spaces and theatres throughout the country.
The Dynamo LED Displays include an LED floor (2304×2304 pixels) and left and right videowalls (2304×1280 pixels). To power the display Dynamo deployed two NovaStar COEX MX40 Pro controllers using 10G fibre outputs, ensuring stability and synchronisation across the large canvas. Behind each LED panel sits a NovaStar A10s Pro receiver card, enabling HDR support, low latency, and pixel-level colour calibration – the same technology used in professional film-grade XR setups.
Dynamo also supplied a NovaStar ET4000 media server, capable of ultra-high resolution output, real-time content blending and irregular screen mapping. Together, these technologies form a real-time visual delivery system that can drive the 10+ million pixel LED volume.
Outside the studio, Dynamo installed two additional high-resolution hallway information screens (both 1536×960pixels), giving Brook 6th Form a tech-forward digital signage solution for daily announcements, student showcases, or live event feeds.
Sam Dimond, owner of Spotlight Sound, an AV Installation and event hire company, says; “As technology continues to evolve, schools need to stay ahead of the curve, to ensure that their students are equipped with the skills and exposure necessary for the modern workforce.”

Nick Cecil, a specialist AV consultant for Brooks Sixth Form, said: “Instead of simply opting for the most expensive equipment, we take a more considered approach; one that prioritises teaching, learning, and finding the best solution for both teachers and students, while also making the most effective use of available funding. Spotlight Sound understood my goals and rationale perfectly, and did an outstanding job bringing the vision to life.”
The new AV setup at Brooks Academy & 6th Form is not just a technical upgrade, it is a vital part of delivering new media T-Level qualifications. T-Levels are a funded qualification which is a vocational alternative to A-levels. Brooks Academy is now positioned to provide students with the resources they need to succeed in the media industry. “The T-Level funding was instrumental in helping us deliver this upgraded space,” Cecila adds. “Not only can students gain practical experience with the latest technology, but this setup also offers benefits to other classes beyond media, ensuring the space is versatile and future-proof.”
