Vizrt has launched Viz Arena 6, the latest version of its live augmented reality (AR) graphics and virtual advertising solution for sports broadcasters.
The new release introduces AI-driven features designed to simplify keying and reduce calibration time by up to tenfold. Viz Arena 6 will be showcased at IBC 2025 in Hall 10, stand 10.A41.
The platform uses AI calibration to keep AR graphics and virtual ads locked to the field of play, regardless of camera movement, and aims to get graphics to air significantly faster without compromising accuracy. A new “Sports Intelligent Keyer” employs ambient learning to automatically separate foreground from background with minimal manual intervention.
According to Vizrt, these enhancements are intended to lower the barrier to creating AR sports graphics, streamlining tasks that have traditionally been complex and time-consuming.
Sergi Sendra, senior director of media content, technical and production departments at MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports, said the new tools had an immediate impact: “We were blown away by the AI calibration and AI keyer, they really transformed our fast-paced MotoGP workflow. We were supposed to be beta testing, but Viz Arena 6 was so stable and consistent, that we decided to take it straight to air.”
In addition to graphics, Viz Arena 6 supports virtual advertising, enabling rights holders to insert tailored, sponsor-specific ads into live broadcasts. Vizrt said this offers broadcasters and producers greater creative flexibility while also opening new commercial opportunities.
Edouard Griveaud, senior product manager for sports and AI at Vizrt, said the update reflected a wider goal of using AI to increase efficiency: “In sports, the action never slows, and productions need technology that can keep up. AI-powered calibration and keying speed up the process.”
