Extron expands XTP Systems with 8K fibre switching and extension

Extron boosted its XTP Systems line with the XTP II 8K Fiber series that uses the 50 Gbps backplane of XTP II CrossPoint series matrix switchers to deliver performance and reliability.

The series comprises four products: XTP II FT 402 8K fibre optic transmitters for HDMI and DisplayPort; XTP II FR 401 8K fibre optic receivers with local HDMI input; XTP II CP 4i F 8K input boards with assignable XTP Fiber or HDMI inputs; and XTP II CP 4o SF 8K output boards with scaled fibre and local, unscaled HDMI outputs.

Extron says its XTP II 8K Fiber series extends video, audio, bidirectional control, and 1 Gbps Ethernet over fibre optic cable. Each product is HDCP 2.3 compliant and supports HDMI 2.1 specification features that include data rates up to 40.1 Gbps, HDR, Deep Color up to 12-bit, 3D, and HD lossless audio formats. The XTP endpoints use two Extron technologies: EDID Minder and Key Minder. EDID Minder automatically manages EDID communication between sources and display devices. For signals with protected content, Key Minder authenticates and maintains continuous HDCP encryption between input and output devices. For optimal image quality, the XTP II CP 4o SF 8K output board incorporates the Extron Vector 4K scaling engine that Extron says is specifically designed with best-in-class image upscaling and downscaling.

XTP Systems provide an integrated switching and distribution solution for multiple digital and analogue formats. They support local connectivity as well as extended transmission capability for sending high resolution video, audio, RS-232, and Ethernet up to 100m over a shielded CATx cable and up to 10 km over fibre optic cable. Each system has Extron's SpeedSwitch Technology which the manufacturer says delivers ultra-fast, highly reliable digital switching. Control software offers a complete view of all XTP devices from a computer for configuration, operation and monitoring. XTP Systems have hot-swappable modular components, a wide selection of XTP transmitters and receivers, and advanced 24/7 system monitoring.
