Extron DXP 42 HD 8K takes aim at pro AV switching with 8K/60 & ultra-wide 5K support
Extron is now shipping the DXP 42 HD 8K, a compact 4x2 HDMI matrix switcher designed for professional AV environments requiring high-performance video distribution.

The switcher supports resolutions up to 8K/60 and ultra-wide 5K, with data rates up to 40.1 Gbps. Extron said the product is suited to applications including Microsoft Teams Front Row systems.

The DXP 42 HD 8K is HDCP 2.3-compliant and includes Extron technologies such as EDID Minder Plus and SpeedSwitch. EDID Minder Plus manages advanced display features, while SpeedSwitch is designed to support fast input switching.

Casey Hall, chief marketing officer for Extron, said: “This matrix switcher sets a new standard for professional AV environments, delivering uncompromising video quality and advanced switching capabilities for applications demanding the highest performance.”

Hall added: “With support for 8K, plus innovative technologies like EDID Minder Plus, it ensures reliable distribution in any high-end installation.”

The switcher also includes HDMI audio de-embedding and automatic input cable equalisation.

To support the display and distribution of 8K, 5K and 21:9 aspect ratio content, EDID Minder Plus provides 512-byte EDID emulation for additional memory blocks used to communicate advanced display capabilities via EDID and DisplayID structures.

Colour bit depth is automatically adjusted based on the display EDID, helping to prevent colour compatibility conflicts between the source and display.
