L-Acoustics launches LA1.16i amplified controller at Keynote 2025 event in UK

L-Acoustics has announced the launch of a compact 16-channel amplified controller.

The LA1.16i, purpose-built for near-field and short-throw applications, delivers channel density in a rack-friendly 1U size.

The new product was unveiled at the audio specialist's Keynote 2025 event in London, UK on May 7, as part of an audio ecosystem inspired by three concepts: Source, System, and Space.

Its high channel count can power up to 48 X4i compact enclosures and aims to make L-Acoustics systems more accessible.

Suited to home cinema and yacht entertainment systems, the LA1.16i can also support front-fill and delay systems in theatres, distributed background music systems in hospitality spaces, and L-ISA spatial audio/Ambiance active acoustics installations.

Genio Kronauer, executive director of R&D, technologies and platforms at L-Acoustics, said: "Following the success of our LA7.16i amplified controller, we identified a clear need for a complementary solution for small to medium installations.

"The LA1.16i applies the same innovative approach to these applications, significantly reducing the cost-per-channel of amplification while maintaining the sonic signature and reliability that L-Acoustics is known for."

L-SMART

Like its predecessor the LA7.16i, this new model features L-Acoustics' patented power management technology – L-SMART.

This innovation matches real-time power delivery to the needs of the loudspeaker system, reducing energy consumption when compared to traditional amplifier designs.

Network integration

Milan-certified, the LA1.16i supports Milan-AVB and AES67 audio network protocols with smooth redundancy, as well as AES/EBU and analogue inputs.

Supported installation

Installation features include GPIOs for third-party control integration, 24V DC backup power input for the DSP card and terminal block connectors for every audio output.

The LA1.16i can be configured remotely and monitored using L-Acoustics LA Network Manager software.

Additionally, it integrates with media control systems through Q-SYS plugins, Crestron modules and HTTP API.
