Barco is collaborating with cinema strategist and movie technology futurist Ted Schilowitz on the launch of CinemaBarco, which aims to bring Hollywood showmanship back to the cinema industry.
"Ted brings a refreshing, childlike enthusiasm combined with his unique brand of disruption toward our efforts in creating new, exhilarating and communal entertainment experiences," said Todd Hoddick, VP global entertainment for Barco.
Schilowitz is working with Barco to launch CinemaBarco which celebrates the art, science and magic of the movies and offers storytelling moments that can be implemented throughout the cinema to create a compelling user experience that starts as soon as moviegoers enter the lobby.
"Todd and I have been breaking new ground together for years in our collaboration between Barco and Red Digital Cinema, where we’ve showed ultra-high resolution movie images
using 4K digital cinema projection systems from Barco," said Schilowitz.
"Without revealing what we’ve been working on, I’ve had an opportunity to spend time at Barco’s labs in Belgium, and I can tell you it’s going to be something really worth seeing in a proper movie theatre".
