Saville scoops BFI contract for UK's local cinemas

Saville scoops BFI contract for UK
UK integrator Saville Audio Visual has scooped a contract to deliver local cinema facilities to UK neighbourhoods as part of a British Film Institute (BFI) campaign.

The Neighbourhood Cinema programme, which helps local organisations set up or enhance cinema venues, has backing of £2 million (€2.5 million) over four years.

It is hoped that the initiative will open up access to cinemas for people who may otherwise struggle to access facilities.

Community organisations are now able to apply to the BFI for equipment for a Neighbourhood Cinema. Technical advice and information from the BFI, its strategic partners and suppliers is available through www.neighbourhoodcinema.org.uk.

Richard Topping, Saville's regional technical manager, said: "Working with the BFI, we have configured a choice of equipment packages including projectors, screens and sound equipment for different budgets and locations. We are also assisting in the setting up of the BFI Neighbourhood Cinema website."

Saville Audio Visual was awarded the contract through a tender process activated through the London Universities Purchasing Consortium.
