UK systems integrator Pure AV has hosted a one day laser showcase, featuring a shoot-out of six laser projectors from Christie, Sony, Canon, Epson, Digital Projection and Panasonic.
The event, held in Manchester, saw end users from a variety of sectors come to explore the latest products in laser projection.
The highlight of the event was a six projector shoot-out, where six models of 6,000 lumens were put against each other with the attendees marking the units on criteria such as Greyscale, Contrast/Brightness, Colour Rendition and Uniformity.
The overall winner by just one point was the Panasonic PT-RZ660, closely followed by the Canon LX-MU600Z.
What was the idea behind the event? "We wanted to give our customers, sales and engineering staff, the chance to carry out an impartial evaluation of some of the latest laser projectors, and have the opportunity to directly engage with the manufactures on the wider benefits of the laser offering," said Peter Sutton MD of Pure AV.
"We are delighted with the way that the delegates embraced the concept of the event. There was much lively debate during the shootout, followed by lots of constructive dialogue with the manufacturers as they presented the wider merits of their solutions in the exhibition area. Early feedback from customers and suppliers has been extremely positive. We seem to have found a format that has encouraged everyone, Pure AV staff, manufacturers and delegates alike to take a fresh look at what laser projection has to offer."
