Extron has helped to shape the success of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia’s (Unimore) fourth hub in Quarto Polo in Reggio Emillia, Italy.
Designed as part of a revitalisation of Innovation Park, a 3,350 square-metre facility including nine classrooms, two laboratories, and an auditorium, supporting over 1,700 students and staff.
The installation includes a wide range of Extron technology, transforming the Quarto Polo into an energy-efficient academic environment.
Using the IPL EXP PDU4H control system power expansion interface and GlobalViewer Enterprise software, the facility’s administrators gained accurate control over power usage, enabling real-time monitoring and helping to uncover opportunities for deeper energy savings than originally anticipated.
Each classroom is equipped with IPCP Pro 255Q xi processors to provide centralised AV control, paired with TLP Pro 725T tabletop touchpanels that allow instructors to control the room’s AV functions. The setup allows for consistent operation across all classrooms, with a lower learning curve for users.
Extron DMP 64 Plus audio processors are used to handle signal management, with the largest classroom featuring Extron’s CA 163 column array loudspeakers, while SF 26CT ceiling speakers provide audio coverage in standard classrooms. The speakers are powered by XPA series amplifiers for crystal clear speech and multimedia content regardless of room size or layout.
Four of the classrooms are configured as two divisible rooms to maximise the flexibility of the space.

The on-site laboratories feature Extron’s SB 33 A adjustable width sound bar for streamlined audio support in a discreet package that integrates seamlessly into the space.
The facility’s auditorium features an AV system designed to support large-scale events, with capacity for audio and video management. A DTP CrossPoint 4K matrix switcher sits at the heart of this setup, facilitating video switching, while a DMP 128 Plus audio processor ensures sound distribution.

TouchLink Pro touchpanels are installed to simplify control for faculty and technicians, allowing them to adjust audio levels, manage lighting, and switch video inputs as needed. An XPA U 3502 amplifier powers SM 28 surface-mount speakers for balanced audio coverage throughout the auditorium.
