Gefen has announced a new 8x4 matrix for HDMI over Cat-5, which performs both matrixing and signal extension tasks.
The unit can link up to eight HD video and audio sources to up to four HD displays or projectors. Source selection is via IR or RS-232 control. With four local HDMI ouputs and Cat5 input connections, displays can be connected locally via HDMI or up to 50m away via Cat5 extension.
Full 1080p signals are extended via a pair of Cat5 cables up to 50m, 1080i can be extended as far as 100m.
