UK AV integrator Torpedo Factory Group Ltd (TFG), has acquired the business and assets of National Stage Technology Ltd (National Stage), a installer of theatres and performance spaces.
The business will be managed as a separate subsidiary of TFG under the name, TFG Stage Technology Ltd. The terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
National Stage was created in 2015 from a merger of three longstanding companies, Northern Stage Services, Lancelyn Theatre Supplies and Lancelyn Lighting. Offering UK-wide services for specialist lighting, sound and stage solutions, the business provides theatrical, architectural and construction professionals with the expertise to create high quality modern performance spaces. The new Company, TFG Stage Technology, will continue to operate from National Stage’s previous offices in Manchester and Oxford.
The existing TFG business, based in London and Woking, is complementary to that of TFG Stage Technology, with TFG providing design-led technical integration and event services in the Audio Visual market. All previous National Stage customers will now be able to take advantage of the TFG design expertise and installation services in this broader market, not just in performance spaces where National Stage has traditionally been strong.
Nick Clark, TFG’s chief exec, said "The acquisition of the National Stage business almost doubles the Group’s size, to around £9m turnover and 80 staff and brings TFG’s design and engineering excellence to new and attractive market sectors."
The previous Managing Director of National Stage, Patrick Colin, has retired. The rest of the management team remain in place. Colin’s role will be taken by John Moore, TFG’s ops director.
