AV technologies are key components in an exhibition opening at London's Barbican venue that explores art created by technology and code. DevArt by Google with the Barbican was launched in February 2014 and will include four art commissions that will be exhibited as part of the Barbican's Digital Revolution exhibition that will run from July 3 to September 14, 2014.
The competition component of DevArt closed for entries on March 28 but the introductory video (above) provides a good overview of the project that attempts to highlight coding as a creative art form.
Commissioned work for the Digital Revolution exhibition comes from Karsten Schmidt, Zach Lieberman, and the duo Varvara Guljajeva and Mar Carnet.
Steve Vranakis, executive creative director of the Google Creative Lab, said: “DevArt is about reappraising what art is. We want to show that technology can be a canvas for creativity and that developers are also artists, using code to make art.â€
Digital Revolution will debut at the Barbican before embarking on a tour of cities around the world.
