Study says poor comms is costing 68.65 billion Euros
A report from employee experience platform, Unily, and digital signage specialist, ScreenCloud, have highlighted the cost of poor communications in businesses, finding a lost of 68.65 billion Euros per year.

The report, titled Disconnected and disengaged: The economic cost of frontline friction, surveyed 800 frontline workers, uncovering a communications crisis and highlights the impact inflicted on enterprise business.

A key finding of the report highlights that digital underinvestment and a disconnected employee experience are costing organisations 68.65 billion Euros a year due to frontline workers losing time and missing critical information, which in turn leads to significant productivity reductions and economic losses.

The report says that a single frontline employee spends an average of 120 hours per year unable to work due to poor access to information, spending 124 hours searching for information and 132 hours having to redo work due to a lack of initial information.

Additionally, security risks play a key role, as inadequate access to official tools saw 71% of surveyed workers admitting to using personal devices or non-company apps to share or access company information, with 37% of workers admitting to sharing sensitive data through these unofficial channels.

As a result, 72% of frontline employees report that they don’t have a strong grasp of company strategy, with only 39% of surveyed workers saying that they are happy with their current company. 31% said that they would consider moving to a company with a better digital experience.

Mark McDermott, CEO, ScreenCloud, commented: “It's imperative that every worker, from head office to factory floor, gets the right information at the right time. Digital screens meet employees where they are - and in critical moments that can make all the difference.”
