At the National Retail Federation Convention, held this week in the USA, Intel has unveiled the Connected Store concept: a futuristic storefront for retailers looking make a digital impact. The store, powered in part by the company’s "visibly smart" processors, is full of interactive demos and proof-of-concepts. Among the systems using the new range of Core processors3D graphics capabilities are a virtual search engine-equipped wall of Adidas sneakers and the Intel Digital Signage Endcap.
This targets you specifically using gesture recognition technology. The company has released this video, demonstrating the areas in which it believes it’s processors will play a part in the store of the future.
Interested parties in the US already include Proctor and Gamble and Kraft Foods. Expect shopping trolleys to tell you to “Share and enjoy” within the next ten years.
