Genelec monitors bring succinct sound to acoustic-hearing research unit
The acoustic hearing evaluation unit (UNEVA) at the Universidad de Salamanca (USAL) is equipped with Genelec 8020 studio monitors for research into hearing aid and implant technology.

UNEVA features a soundproofed room with variable reverberation that allows listening to be simulated in various sound environments. The unit is also used to prove new sound processing for hearing aids nd new devices are beneficial to users.

This electrically shielded, soundproofed room has panels that can be opened or closed to adjust reverberation and absorption, allowing tests in realistic environments. In the centre, a three-metre diameter ring of 24 Genelec 8020 monitors allows researchers to create and change the background noise levels in the space.

The monitors form the linchpin of the work undertaken at UNEVA, enabling the facility to use its small footprint and curved enclosure design to produce less reflections and diffraction, even when multiple monitors re installed in close proximity to each other.
