Columbia Asia hospital in Bangalore, India has chosen to install a fleet of Barco Nio Color 2MP diagnostic display systems for radiology service. Columbia Asia is an international healthcare group and operates 25 medical facilities across Asia in countries such as Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia in addition to India. Installation was undertaken by Siemens

The Nio Color 2MP is equipped with Barco’s patented Uniform Luminance Technology for LED displays. The technology is attuned to the high brightness LED backlight and a Nio front-of-screen sensor. Both features are intended to help enhance image quality and diagnostic accuracy while also helping to reduce the total cost of ownership.

The product also claims to have more shades of grey, allowing it to detect subtle details quicker and hence making it ideal for application in the medical field. Furthermore, the front-of-screen sensor works seamlessly with Barco's online MediCal QAWeb solution for automated Quality Assurance and on-demand calibration.

This is not Columbia Asia’s first experience with Barco displays. Dr, Harsha Chadaga, head of clinical operations, narrates: “We have been working with Barco medical display systems since 2009 We have a fleet of medical displays ranging from the Nio 2MP, Nio 5MP and Eonis clinical displays. Never once have they let us down, so the decision to extend our collaboration with Barco was quite an obvious one.”

A demonstration of the Nio Color 2MP diagnostic display’s ability was able to convince the staff at Columbia Asia in Bangalore was able to convince the staff regarding its merits. Dr. Shalini Govil, chief radiologist and quality controller, says: ““Barco has shown tremendous engagement at all levels within the hospital.
