Barco has announced its financial results for 2016, a year in which it saw its CEO (Eric Van Zele) step down, and the company build a new single site (One Campus) in Belgium which now houses 1,250 employees.
Sales grew to 1,100 million euro, a 7% increase on 2015, incoming orders were at 1081.2 million euro (+ 3.6%), gross profit margin at 34.4% (+ 1.6%) and EBITDA was 88 million euro.
Commenting on the results, new Barco CEO Jan De Witte said, "Barco delivered solid sales growth and improved profitability for 2016. Initiatives to lower product costs and a favourable product mix led to a gain in gross profit margin versus 2015 and a year-over-year increase in EBITDA margin, even with significant investments in growth initiatives during the year."
"While the Entertainment business remains our key growth driver, especially in emerging markets, ClickShare continued its track record of success. In Healthcare we saw a promising uptake of our surgical business.
"Moving into 2017, we want to further increase our focus on technology that truly enables customer outcomes. Our technology is used in places where they make a real difference in the customer's success. Barco projectors are built to deliver experiences that today's audiences demand while helping exhibitors increase revenue."
