AMX buys SVSi

Harman has announced that it has acquired SVSi, a manufacturer of networked AV products. SVSi will join Harman Professional's Video and Control Strategic Business Unit (SBU) led by Rashid Skaf and marketed under the AMX by Harman brand. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal was signed off last week, but was officially announced as InfoComm 2015 opened this morning.

Speaking to InAVate earlier today, Shaun Robinson, VP product management said discussions over the deal began at ISE 2014, before AMX was purchased by Harman.  Robinson said the deal made sense as the two companies were a 'culture match'.

The SVSi brand will remain, and the staff will stay in its HQ in Huntsville, Alabama.

SVSi manufactures products to deliver AV over the IP network. Included among these is a range of encoders and decoders, windowing/wall processors, an audio transceiver, video recorder, and management software.
