ABBA concert triumphs in blending digital and physical performances
Blending physical and digital performance, the much-anticipated ABBA Voyage concert opened in London last week to rave reviews.

Industrial Light and Magic, the motion picture visual effects company founded by George Lucas, was behind the “ABBAtars”, digital versions of the Swedish band that perform the concert.

Hosted in the specially built ABBA Arena in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, ABBA Voyage began on May 27. The arena was a technical masterpiece in itself with a complex sound and lighting installation to handle the unique performance.

CGI was used to make the human-sized digital band members appear how they did in their 1970s heyday as they perform crowd-pleasing greatest hits. They’re supported by a full, live backing band.
