€1.2 million worth of high-end AV is up for auction
A businessman best known for transforming a private jet linked to Pablo Escobar into an Airbnb is shifting his career focus - after putting £1 million (€1.2m) worth of high-end audio-visual equipment under the hammer.

Johnny Palmer has worked in the live events industry but is now looking to focus on property, accommodation and software ventures.

The auction, featuring 1,600 lots, includes high quality mixing desks, lighting rigs and production kit used by Palmer’s production company PYTCH. The equipment is housed at his Brislington campus, home to the famous airplane-turned-Airbnb.

The two-day online auctions can be accessed on Bidspotter and i-bidder

Last year, Palmer sold PYTCH to Premier Events, a company three times the size of his own. The sale follows the acquisition, with surplus AV gear now up for auction. Landwood Group is handling the sale.

One of the standout items from this collection is the highly sought-after Calrec Summa digital audio mixing desk. The Summa console is designed for broadcasters who need high-quality audio production. As an added incentive, anyone spending over £40,000 at the auction will receive a stay aboard the famous PYTCHAir private jet*.

While the Boeing 727, which has become an element of PYTCH’s branding, is not for sale, Palmer confirmed that it will continue to operate as part of the PYTCHAir Airbnb experience.

Johnny Palmer, comments: “This high-spec AV kit has been a huge part of the success of my PYTCH business, powering huge events and productions for years. But after two decades in the industry, it’s time to step back and further grow my property, accommodation and software ventures.

"Teaming up with Landwood Group means this gear will go to the right buyers. It’s an incredible opportunity to get hold of top-quality audio-visual and production gear and I will be pleased to see it go to new homes where it will keep making an impact."
