Sony has debuted its latest version of its virtual production software, Virtual Production Tool Set, ahead of its release in winter 2024.
The Virtual Production Tool Set is a combination of software, including a camera and display plugin for Unreal Engine as well as the Colour Calibrator Windows 10 application for colour correction. Version 2.0 of this plug-in and application will be available as new features.
The camera and display plugin allows users to simulate the look and feel of a chosen camera in a virtual space, prior to shooting with a LED wall. The camera and display plugin version 2.0 adds support for the Venice digital camera series, while also supporting Epic Games’ Unreal Vcam to control cameras in virtual spaces using an iPad.
Sony offers a paid license for the Live Camera Sync feature, which can read changes in the settings of Venice cameras and lenses on set and reflect them in the Unreal Engine settings.
