Sommer Cable has announced AOC cables for long-distance transmission of AV signals via HDMI 2.0a and DisplayPort 1.4.
The active cables are designed for live entertainment and installation. The HDMI 2.0a version achieves 18 Gbit/s of bandwidth and the DisplayPort 1.4 variant delivers 25 Gbit/s. The AOC glass fibre hybrid lines allow the required electronics to be built into the connector shell. This means they can be more compact in size and do not require a separate power supply.
AOC cables support recent standards including HDCP 2.2 copy protection and 4K resolution at 60 Hz with a 4:4:4 scan or HDR 10. The HDMI 2.0a variant is available in lengths of up to 100 m, the DisplayPort 1.4 in lengths of up to 50m.
