Picturall updates media servers for ISE 2017

Finnish media server manufacturer Picturall was at ISE 2017 to showcase the full 'Mark 2' range of updated media servers along with three additions.

The first is a new software release that includes support for Apple’s ProRes video codec and a new web configuration tool, the second is the launch of a range of input cards that provide DP 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 connectivity for full end-to-end 4K compatibility, and the third is the introduction of an uncompressed 8K playback option across the full range of media servers.

The Web Configurator adds functionality including import and export of an existing configuration, a license update tool, system diagnostics, and support for viewing and editing configuration parameters whilst the server is running.

New for ISE 207 is a range of input cards that provide DP 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 connectivity for full end-to-end 4K compatibility across the full range of Picturall products. Configurations of up to 4-in and 16-out are available.

Picturall now offers an uncompressed 8K playback option across the full range of media servers available in 2, 4 and 8TB formats. This addition allows customers to use uncompressed DPX and TGA image sequences directly – no further compression is required. The system can play back images with up to 10-bit colours of 4:4:4 chroma subsampling without the process of optimising compression settings.
