NTi gets key approval for XL2-TA with attached mic

The XL2-TA sound level meter has extended type approval for operation with an attached microphone.

The approval was recently received in Austria for the product that offers level and audio recording and 1/3rd octave band analysis. Reverberation time measurement and a detailed FFT spectral analysis are also included as standard with the basic instrument. The XL2-TA covers a range of applications from basic noise measurement to unattended noise monitoring and building acoustics applications.

The updated type approval from the Austrian BEV (Bundesamt für Eich- und Vermessungswesen) confirms the XL2-TA as a class 1 sound level meter for legally-binding noise monitoring. The latest standards for sound level meters IEC61672-1:2013 and IEC61260-1:2014 were used as a basis for this. The measuring instrument can be used with a directly-attached measurement microphone M2230 or in the detached microphone mode. The cable lengths 5, 10 and 20 meters were specifically approved for this purpose.

Approval also permits the use of the XL2-TA Sound Level Meter for unattended sound level monitoring. The noise levels can be monitored simultaneously at several locations using the NoiseScout web portal. Automatically generated emails inform the user about exceeded limit values at any of the measurement locations. The XL2 is configured via the web portal and operates autonomously. The logged measurement data can be downloaded at any time.

The Type Approval Option extends the XL2 Sound Level Meter to the XL2-TA. Existing XL2 customers can upgrade meters to an XL2-TA Sound Level Meter by installing this option. The approved firmware V3.11 is available for all XL2-TA customers free of charge.
