Mitsubishi Electric has demonstrated the world’s first scalable OLED display. The product was unveiled at the CEATEC show in Japan last week.
The demonstration display screen measured 155", and the company believe it has the potential to revolutionise out of home applications.
The display was made up of 720 discrete OLED display modules fitting together to make a screen of 1152 x 640 pixels. That equates to a pixel pitch of 3mm with a light output of 1200 cd/m2.
A key benefit of the display system is that it’s only 81.5mm deep. Also there is no theoretical maximum to the size of the array of OLED panels that can be created.
