Mitsubishi Electric has announced that it will launch "Diamond Vision OLED," the world’s first, large-scale display system.
The Diamond Vision OLED, designed for indoor use, delivers seamless, vivid images using Mitsubishi Electric’s newly developed video control technology. The screen offers wide horizontal and vertical viewing angles of approximately ±80 degrees. Delivering a maximum brightness of 1,200cd/m² at approximately double the contrast of a comparable LED screen, Diamond Vision OLED is suitable for installation in relatively brightly-lit areas such as commercial facilities, stations and airports.
Demand for digital signage systems in an increasingly wide variety of venues such as shopping malls, passenger terminals and public facilities, has created a market for a versatile, high-brightness screen technology that can adapt easily to physical limitations and work effectively in high ambient light conditions. Delivering a light output approximately three times that of an average LCD display, Diamond Vision OLED is uniquely suited to these kinds of applications.
Built from any number of standard 128 x 128 pixel OLED modules, each measuring 384mm square and weighing eight kilograms, the Diamond Vision OLED is fully scalable and can be used to create a wide variety of screen sizes or shapes, even against rounded surfaces. The screen’s 99mm depth allows it to be installed in restricted spaces such as narrow paths and station concourses.
