Looking Glass releases 27-in lightfield display and software updates

Looking Glass has launched its Looking Glass 27-in, designed for multi-user 3D experiences without headsets, glasses, or other gear.

The new model offers 5K resolution within a one-in design thickness, projecting 12-in of virtual depth, creating 3D experiences for visual communication between groups.

New software improvements allow the displays to be powered by iPads, as well as GPU-enabled computers, designed to reduce the operational footprint while simultaneously delivering an approximate 60% system level cost reduction compared to its predecessor model.

New software updates have been released to allow developers and creators to create applications, show content, and leverage open source tools, using bridge SDK which allows developers to build or integrate custom applications using a native SDK for OpenGL, DirectX, and Metal, as well as samples for C++, C# and Python.

Looking Glass has also released an updated Unity plugin, visualising 3D Unity scenes in Looking Glass displays to build fully interactive 3D applications for Looking Glass on PC, Mac, or iOS, previewing scenes with live editor views in a Looking Glass display.

Looking Glass Studio has been updated to support iOS and allow users to playback pre-rendered image and video content from Unity, Unreal, Blender, or standard 2D images and videos with generated depth.
