HTC Vive launches peripheral and facial trackers

HTC Vive has announced its Vive tracker 3.0 and Vive facial tracker, designed to accurately track peripherals and facial movements in VR environments.

The Vive tracker 3.0 features a 75% increase to its battery life, with a 15% reduction in weight and capability for the integration of physical objects in extended reality. The Vive tracker 3.0 allows for seven hours of continuous use with a 240 degrees field of view tracking capacity.

The tracker is backwards compatible with previous generations and is also compatible with SteamVR 2.0 and 1.0 tracking, as well as all SteamVR based headsets.

HTC Vive launches peripheral and facial trackers

The HTC Vive facial tracker allows for tracking of 38 facial movements across the lips, jaw, teeth, tongue, chin and cheeks with a real-time depiction of the lower facial area in VR.

Dual cameras are provided with a 60Hz tracking rate and sub-10ms response time and an IR illuminator.

The Vive facial tracker is also compatible with the Vive Pro series of VR systems.
