Extron introduces new USB extender

Extron Electronics has just released their new product, called the USB Extender Plus, which is capable of extending signals from USB peripheral devices located up to a 100m away from the host computer using a single CATx cable.

The extender supports USB 3.0, USB 2.0, USB 1.1 and USB 1.0 devices with rates up to 480 Mbps. The direct connection of a USB peripheral to a remote host eliminates the need for additional IP network drops, equipment, software and drivers.

In order to ensure streamlined integration, the transmitter includes USB peripheral emulation that supports booting of the host. The receiver also features an integrated four port hub with 5V, 500mA available on each port to power attached devices.

Extron has identified a wide variety of environments, such as courtrooms, classrooms, lecture halls and conference spaces, as ideal venues for the application of the USB Extender Plus.
