Epson has debuted its C02e calculator, a free online tool to calculate emissions for projectors.
This web-based tool is designed to allow users of Epson projectors to measure the environmental impact of projector usage throughout the lifecycle of the product, providing assessments of GHG emissions measured in C02e across each stage of a projector’s lifecycle.
Calculations are provided for 30 European countries covering Central and Eastern Europe, adjusting for the types of electricity generation specific to each country.
The calculation measures emissions for each lifecycle stage of a projector, including material, production, logistics, usage, and end-of-life disposal.
The calculations provide GHG emissions measured in C02e metrics and cover emissions from the product, packaging, and accompanying elements such as manuals and accessories, routed in a thorough methodology to prevent greenwashing.
Boris Manev, director of corporate sustainability, Epson Europe, commented: “By offering this tool, Epson is demonstrating its commitment to transparency and to empowering users of Epson projectors to make more informed decisions that align with their sustainability goals. The launch of our interactive CO2e emissions calculator is a significant, industry-first milestone in our sustainability journey.
“The development of the calculator aligns with Epson’s commitment to responsible manufacturing as outlined in our Environmental Vision 2050. The calculator draws on a comprehensive range of data sources to allow users to assess the environmental impact of their projector usage in a detailed and transparent manner. Tools like this calculator are essential for driving change in the electronics industry.”
