Epic Games has debuted Unreal Engine 5.4, including new features and improvements to performance, visual fidelity, as well as new features for broadcast and virtual production.
Unreal Engine 5.4 includes motion design mode, designed for motion graphics designers to access tools which enable workflow initiation and improved productivity. Specialised tools for the 2D canvas are included, alongside an improved world outliner with hierarchies.
Motion design mode adds a suite of 3D shapes, cloners, effectors, modifiers, animators, and features for non-linear animations.
The update also brings Unreal VCam for Andoid, enabling virtual production cinematography in real time on any Android device. Known as Live Link VCAM on iOS devices this feature is now available for Android devices.
Unreal VCam allows users to translate camera lensing, framing, movement and more into unreal Engine, with the option to record realistic camera takes that can be fine-tuned in editor to create final compositions when assembled in Unreal Engine’s sequencer.
