Canon Europe is to enter the 4K projector market in the first half of 2016, with the launch of the XEED 4K500ST projector.
The XEED 4K500ST features a 4,096 x 2,400 resolution LCOS panel, and content exceeding the resolution of 4K digital cinema can be projected with it.
The XEED 4K500ST features 5,000 lumens of brightness across the entire zoom range, making it suitable for public display applications with high levels of ambient light. The projector features a lens that has a constant aperture ('F' number) across the entire zoom range and maintains an aperture of F2.6, regardless of zoom position. As a result, the brightness at the telephoto end of the zoom range will be almost the same as at the wide end, making it easy to install and reposition without rebalancing ambient light.
The XEED 4K500ST weighs 17.6kg, and has a latency time of 16.6ms, making it suitable for simulation environments.
In 'Eco mode' the lamp uses 470W and lasts up to 4,000 hours before a replacement is required. Supported by Canon’s three year lamp warranty, up to three free replacement lamps may be claimed if a lamp fails, effectively eliminating the cost of replacement lamps.
The XEED 4K500ST will be available in H1 2016.
