Virtual Luminale light festival brightens up Covid-19 quarantine
Three weeks since the cancellation of the Biennial for Light Art and Urban Design, the Luminale light festival is being held virtually, providing a virtual view of the light art works and installation on Luminale’s digital channels, under the hashtag #luminaledigital and on the Luminale website.

As all the projects had been filmed, with the art set up during dress rehearsals, Luminale photographers were able to take numerous pictures during the press tour on the eve of the now scrapped opening day. These projects can now be viewed online on the Luminale website.

One project, the augmented reality app “Sunbeams”, part of the “Sunshowers” virtual reality installation by Marija Avramovic and Sam Twidale, is designed as an extension of the installation, allowing characters to act in the home environment of the user.

The Luminale has been held in Frankfurt every two years, launched originally by Messe Frankfurt in cooperation with the Light + Building industry event
