ST Engineering Antycip has announced that it has secured a large-scale project to develop the Sherwood Observatory, aiming to drive education enrichment and visitor attraction in marginalised communities.
Antycip is working in partnership with RSA Cosmos – Konica Minolta on this large-scale planetarium launch, with the goal of inspiring STEM interest and opportunities through extracurricular activities and a leading visitor attraction.
The Sherwood Observatory is located in Nottinghamshire, England, receiving the local Ashfield District Council’s approval for plans to build a £6.35 million planetarium and education centre to attract visitors.
The planetarium will be 10 metres wide and will start construction in late August, with the aim of completion by November 2024.
ST Engineering Antycip and RSA Cosmos – Konica Minolta will provide Sherwood Planetarium with the fitting of the planetarium, including software, dome, computers, seats, shows, audio and lighting.
Amir Khosh, commercial and project manager, ST Engineering Antycip, commented: “Our collaboration has been a remarkable journey right from the inception of their idea of building a planetarium. We have provided them with support during the initial stages and assisting them in generating interest through our mock ups.
“We are proud to undertake the project. “This is the first large planetarium that we will deliver from scratch. We designed, will build and deliver a planetarium going from inception to fruition.”
