The life guard tower at Sentosa beach in Singapore have been fitted with a Sennheiser PA system after a successful trail run. The installation was undertaken by Spectral AV Solutions.
Sentosa beach has a total of eight life guard towers and three years ago these were fitted with solar panels. The solar panels supply 12V DC power and this was a specific limitation any PA system needed to surmount in order to be utilized. Another challenge was the fact that the PA speakers would need to maintain legibility at a distance of 100m, which is the distance between the towers.
Spectral AV Solution chose the Apart MA35 mixing amplifier with the MPLT32-G horn loudspeakers as well as the MICPACB-D microphone for operations. To meet the 12V DC requirement the PA system is integrated with the Sennheiser GuidePort 16-key playback for pre-recorded announcements in four languages.
Beach operations manager Julian says: "We experienced difficulty trying to find a suitable PA system that was operable with 12V DC via Solar Power. The Apart MA-35 meets our requirement aptly. The sound intelligibility for all pre-recorded announcements is sufficiently audible in the open beach from tower to tower."
