Italian audio manufacturer Powersoft is positioning itself for growth in Portuguese speaking markets with the appointment of Lisbon based distributor Merging Select.
The Portuguese company, founded in 2007, will take on Powersoft’s amplification and process control products in Portugal, as well as Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe and Equatorial Guinea.
Wladimiro Garrido and João Velhinho founded Merging Select which already distributes a number of brands including Nexo, TW Audio, AuviTran, Steinberg and Yamaha.
Velhinho said: “It’s a privilege to distribute Powersoft, with its outstanding pedigree and high technology amplifiers, to the huge market of Portugal and the African Portuguese speaking countries.
“We don’t merely offer products but also the services involved such as training and consultation. Together with Powersoft, we will help our customers understand the advantages and hidden depths of these technologies via Powersoft Sound School sessions.”
Garrido has undergone in-depth product training at Powersoft’s Italian HQ, including a grounding in new Armonía software applications.
Stefano Previtali, regional account manager (EMEA) at Powersoft, said: “When we decided to restructure our business in Portugal we evaluated who was best placed to serve our interests in these varied territories — and Merging Select were the obvious candidates.”
Velhinho will target both rental and staging and installation segments with his latest signing, adding: “Powersoft’s amplifiers meet a wide range of demands, with Installation nowadays becoming ever stronger.”
A programme of dedicated seminars and roadshows is scheduled for early 2016.
