NEC ramps up gesture control interface research
NEC has announced it will pursue research and development into a gesture control device that uses a camera and projector to control and move data and photos between multiple displays. The control interface can be used with displays, tablets and mobile phones. Gestures are recognised by a 3D camera and a compact image projector displays the interface on any surface.

The Japanese electronics giant commented that in the future it planned to use the system as a basis for gesture-based control of digital signage and room control applications.

A prototype version of the system was captured on camera at this year’s Mobile World Congress. It emerged last week that NEC would be ramping up R&D efforts on the system.
