LG Electronics reduces carbon emissions by 20% in four years
LG has said that its carbon emissions have been reduced by 20% over a four year period, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving resource circularity.

The findings were released in LG’s 2024-2025 sustainability report, highlighting progress towards the company’s 2030 environmental targets.

In 2024, LG’s direct and indirect emissions equated to 910,000 tons of CO2, aiming to bring the company close to its 2030 goal of 878,000 tons of CO2 emissions by 2030.

Previously, LG set itself a goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions 54.6 emissions (compared to 2017 levels) by 2030, a goal which was achieved early by adoption of energy-efficient equipment and carbon-reduction technologies across multiple production processes.

LG also says that it is making headway to reduce emissions from product use through expanded application of AI and energy-saving technologies, reducing carbon emissions by 19.4% compared to 2020.

The company also claims that it has achieved a 97.4% waste recycling rate at its global production sites in 2024, surpassing its 2030 goal of 95%. Additionally, LG collected 532,630 tons of used electronics from 91 locations in 56 countries in 2024, a total which, since 2006, has reached over five million tons. Recycled plastics have also increased in usage with LG, with the company’s products increasing its recycled plastic usage by 36% year-over-year.
