LEDs have been integrated into a glass floor to enable sports halls to transform floor markings to accommodate different games at the touch of a button. ASB, German developers established in the manufacture of floors for squash courts, says future applications could include clubs and reception areas where pictures, videos and logos could be rear-projected from below the floor.
ASB joined forces with a glass processing company, KINON Porz in Cologne, to develop the patented glass floor.
The LEDs in the substructure can be chosen in any colour and the LED lines or differently coloured glass panels can also be used to indicate escape ways.
Sprung characteristics also make the floor suitable for discotheques and clubs and offer VJs numerous opportunities for creative use of under-foot visuals.
