Heythrop Park Warner Hotel turned to Illuminate Design for AV integration in two live entertainment spaces within its luxury hotel complex: The Late Lounge and The Theatre.
The hotel is an adapted Grade II listed 18th-century estate in the Oxfordshire countryside. It features a spa, golf course, traditional sports areas, and 440 acres of parkland.
Heythrop wanted to offer a concert-grade professional audio experience, ensuring consistent, high-quality sound for its guests while keeping noise to other hotel areas under control. Due to the historical significance of the building and the luxury aesthetic of the hotel, great care had to be taken to ensure technology was in-keeping with the venue.
The venues’ audio systems are built around L-Acoustics’ A series, supplied by L-Acoustics’ distributor Audiotek.
Audiotek used L-Acoustics Soundvision modelling software to create sound systems that delivered a good experience within each venue but did not leak into the rest of the hotel.
Christopher Kmiec, UK director at Audiotek, said: “We chose L-Acoustics A Series for its control in both the vertical and horizontal planes and its unparalleled size-to-volume ratio.
“We knew we’d get L-Acoustics concert-grade sound with consistent and exceptional audio quality throughout.”
The sound system designed by Audiotek for the Late Lounge consisted of left/right hangs of three A10i in a mix of Wide and Focus models. Four companion KS21i subwoofers are flush-mounted under the stage. One X8 coaxial enclosure is used for centre-fill while two further X8 are used for side-fill and two X12 provide delay fill. The system is powered by five LA4X amplified controllers. In the Theatre, the left/right system includes four A10i Focus per side with four KS21i subwoofers flown beside each array. One X8 is used for centre-fill, while four X12 are on hand for stage monitoring. Four LA4X amplified controllers power the entire system, while one extra LA4X is on hand for the stage monitors.
Kmiec said: “Together, we developed a solution that achieved the exceptional sound quality standard that Warner was searching for while also providing a system that is easy to manage and use.”
