HP has revealed the latest version of its flexible display, which it says will enable it to produce thinner and lighter screens. However, the product cannot be used as a true flexible display as the company says it will only survive being rolled up about six times. Nevertheless the material is impressive and has been caught in a video by Hardware.info.
The colour screen only requires a small amount of power to charge. It acts like a regular LCD and can show video.
Phil Mckinney, HP’s head of technology, predicted that the material would be used for wall mounting and as an external monitor for mobile devices. It was also reported that McKinney had claimed mass production was expected to kick off in around three years.
