Free online session looks at VR as a business tool
UK-based programme The wAVE Project is hosting a session on Zoom next week aimed at businesses of all kinds to look at how you can use real-time VR as a business tool. This free session will take place on Zoom on Tuesday May 5 from 12pm – 2pm (UK time) and will be led by one of the key members of the UK’s VR community.

The session will demonstrate how businesses can use real-time virtual reality as a tool for meetings, training, developing products, marketing and telling unique stories.

The session is part of a series of cost-free ‘Immersive Tech Introductions’ for businesses of all sizes, types and sectors. These opportunities have been opened up via the Coastal Communities funding gained by the new wAVE project, led by Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), Cornwall Museums Partnership and Falmouth University. Across the span of 2020, organisations across Cornwall, and with the conversion to online workshops, businesses across the UK can gain access to new technological knowledge and skills that could significantly boost the awareness, efficiency and success of their business.

Leading the session is Katie Goode, creative director of Triangular Pixels, an award-winning Cornish games development company. Katie is one of the key members of the UK VR community, and is at the forefront of virtual reality game design. She will share her expertise on how you can use real-time VR as a business tool, followed by a Q&A session where businesses in attendance can capitalise on the opportunity.

Katie Goode from Triangular Pixels, said: “Virtual Reality adds a whole other dimension to all the uses we have with our flat screens. With the power of immersion, businesses can use VR as a tool to increase productivity, brand awareness, grow and to get ahead of the competition. I am really looking forward to bringing my experience, insights and knowledge to this online session hosted by the wAVE project - do make sure to sign up!”

Amy Shakespeare, wAVE community project manager at Cornwall Museums Partnership, said: “This is the fifth session of our Immersive Tech Introductions and we’re thrilled to be bringing in a leader in her field, Katie from Triangular Pixels to share her impressive expertise with businesses. Participants really will be learning from the very best, it is a fantastic opportunity to pick the brains of a VR expert. Throughout 2020, we will be covering different areas of the emerging immersive tech industry, all now run digitally so there is no geographical limit for attendees. This is part of the innovative wAVE project, which we are proud to be leading alongside Falmouth University on behalf of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly LEP.”
